An Important Message and Update

Dear Physical Therapy Advantage Clients and Followers,

I know you have been receiving numerous emails from many sources in the past few days, and I wanted to let you know we are monitoring the new developments regarding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) as information is rapidly evolving from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Illinois Department of Public Health and the Kane County Health Department. The health and safety of our clients, staff and families is of the utmost importance and is our #1 priority.

Just to let you know we are here for you and plan on being open to help all of our clients get through their current and future rehabilitation.  “Our primary function as a physical therapy clinic is to help people recover from injuries and to restore function”.  Teamwork is vital to getting through a crisis and together we will make things be successful for all of our clients and our staff.  Here are a few things we will be doing to help minimize any risk at the clinic:

  • You may notice even more hand washing by all staff and following CDC guidelines of washing at least 20 seconds.
  • Cleaning all surfaces more regularly and throughout the day, including, but not limited to keyboards, filing cabinets, all surfaces, tables, doorknobs, exercise equipment, countertops, and faucet handles.
  • Spreading the waiting room chairs out from each other to create space between people waiting in reception area.
  • We will no longer shake hands with our clients upon greeting them, but offer a verbal greeting instead.
  • We may increase ventilation in the clinic as much as possible by opening the front or back doors when possible (weather permitting).
  • We will have clients swipe their own credit card into the credit card readers and minimize receiving cash or checks.
  • In regards to our 24-hour cancellation/No-Show policy, we still ask for as much notice as possible when cancelling due to illness, but with extreme uncertainty of this global situation we truly understand there will be cancellations and will honor those without any penalties. We ask that if you are feeling ill or anyone in your family is feeling ill and showing signs of a respiratory illness, fever or cough, please stay home at this time and reschedule your appointment.  Please also be mindful of the recent travel guidelines that have been implemented. If in the last two weeks you or someone in your household has traveled internationally, we will need to reschedule your appointment.

What we know:

  1. Covid-19 vs Flu vs Cold typical symptoms.
  2. 80% of those infected do NOT need hospitalization.
  3. Currently, as of 3/12/20, there are 3 active cases nationally, all tied to a recent cruise and under self-quarantine.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the following preventative actions:

  • Stay home when you are sick or experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness with a fever, cough or difficulty breathing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we take proactive measures to keep the community, our clients, staff and all of our families healthy and reduce the spread of COVID-19. We assure you we are committed to being as responsive as we can as new information is shared with us.

Please do not hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions or concerns regarding this situation, 630-892-8003.

With Gratitude,

Joe King and the rest of the PTA Staff
