Welcome to the May newsletter from Physical Therapy Advantage.

We hope that you have a great end to your school year and you are ready to begin summer the best you can be!

June 1 - Well Batavia Festival 8:00am - 1:00pm on North River Street in Batavia- Well Batavia is a festival for health with expert information on how to improve your personal health, the health of your family, homes and community. PTA is a sponsor for the festival and we will be avaiable to answer all of your body and movement questions.  Prior to the festival is a 5K "Race to Market" race and there will be free fitness classes provided throughout the day.  Hope to see you there!  For more information check out  https://www.wellbatavia.com/about-wellbatavia-festival

June 5 - Batavia Park District - Super Savvy Senior Expo from 9:00am - 12:00pm at the Batavia East Side Community Center.  All seniors and their families are invited to discover the resources in the community for active adults.  PTA will have a booth to answer all of your Physical Therapy questions.  

June 25 - Balance and Dizziness workshop at the Physical Therapy Advantage Clinic from 6:30-7:30 pm.  If you are suffering from balance or dizziness issues, this workshop is for you.  Register at 630-892-8003 for the FREE workshop.

July 25 - Low Back and Sciatica workshop at our clinic from 6:30pm-7:30pm.  Are you suffering from low back pain or do you have pain that radiates down one of your legs?  This is the workshop for you.  Please call to register for the FREE workshop by calling 630-892-8003.

The risks of overtraining 

Spring is a time when many people think of taking physical activity up a notch - whether you are just starting, a weekend warrior or train regularly.

Overtraining syndrome can result when the physical stress placed on an athlete is greater than the body can handle, leading to an array of symptoms and decreased athletic performance.

Physical Therapy can help you avoid overtraining by educating you on the risks and symptoms of overtraining, and by developing a gradual training program for you to follow to avoid injury.

Have you ever heard of Plantar Fasciitis? 

Plantar fasciitis is an inflammatory condition that can cause moderate to severe foot pain that is worse in the morning and when putting weight on the foot. While this condition can take up to a full year to completely resolve, Physical Therapy can help to manage symptoms.

A proper assessment that looks at your lifestyle, posture and walking or running pattern will help to identify common culprits. Manual therapy and modalities, including ice, ultrasound or shockwave, as well as custom orthotics, are some of the recommendations for plantar fasciitis.
