Thank you to Ashlee Garcia from https://believethehemp.com/ for providing our guest article on CBD oil.

Have you been hearing a lot about CBD lately? It is being talked about on social media, in the news, and maybe by your friends, family or co-workers who do not know much about it but want to learn more. Well hopefully this article will help you understand more about CBD and if it is right for you or your family.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is rapidly transforming from a little-known molecule into a potential breakthrough nutritional supplement as it grows in acclaim among the health conscious. CBD is found naturally throughout the flowers, seeds, and stalks of cannabis plants – including hemp and marijuana.

While CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. The main functional difference between hemp and marijuana is the measurable level of THC. Marijuana is grown specifically to contain significant levels of THC, usually for medical and recreational use, while hemp has only trace amounts of THC. CBD found naturally in hemp is legal in the United States – while CBD from marijuana is federally illegal in the United States, though state-by-state legalization is occurring rapidly. According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.” This non-psychoactivity makes CBD safe for use by everyone, regardless of age, adding to its popularity.

We know that CBD, like other cannabinoids, interacts with the body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for creating homeostasis within the body by promoting balance among functions like appetite, sleep, pain management, mood and immune response.

Pain Management and Mood Disorders

Researchers are studying how CBD interacts with the brain receptors and the immune system. This interaction creates anti-inflammatory and painkilling effects that help with pain management. This means that CBD oil may help people with chronic pain.

It is important to understand that CBD is not a drug – it is a food supplement. With that, anyone considering taking CBD to aid in their recovery from an injury, surgery, or taking it to help with mood stability, rest and relaxation should consult with their doctor first. There are many online resources available with published studies on CBD for pain management.
