Greetings

Welcome to the September newsletter from Physical Therapy Advantage.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT - MATTHEW

Matthew has been working as an aide at PTA for over a year.  Since the first day that we met him, we knew he was the person for our clinic!  The ease that he has connecting with all of our patients has not gone unnoticed.   He is a jack of all trades by helping everyone and is a valuable member of our team.

Matthew's favorite food is Portillo's Italian beef dipped with giardiniera, side of cheese fries and a root beer.

Disneyworld is his favorite vacation destination,  but his dream vacation is London, England.

His favorite music is Alternative.

Thank you Matthew!

We welcome Matt C. to our clinic!

Matt will be interning at Physical Therapy Advantage for the next 3 months.  He is a student at Western Michigan University, studying exercise science.   After he completes this internship, he will be graduating in December, 2022.  His ultimate goal is to pursue a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.

He has already enjoyed meeting many clients and helping them with their exercises.  He looks forward to meeting you!

In his free time, Matt enjoys watching football, playing golf, fishing and snowboarding.   He is a Northwestern Football fan!

Welcome!

In this newsletter we’re discussing shin splints.

What kind of injuries do Cheerleaders deal with?

Cheerleading was initially established to boost team spirit and encourage unity among peers. Today, it is well-recognized as a competitive athletic event that requires a highly precise skill set.

Due to the combination of complex routines, stunts, and gymnastics, cheerleading is also associated with an increased risk of injuries.

Understanding Thoracic disc herniation

Thoracic disc herniation occurs when protective material inside a spinal disc shifts out of place. For many people, a herniated disc is discovered during MRI testing for a different problem as few people experience symptoms due to this issue.

If thoracic disc herniation is discovered, assessing potential effects on the spinal cord is vital.
