Healthy Lifestyle & Wellness Program - February 2026

With February being American Heart Month, I thought it might be a good time to give everyone a bit of an update on my health journey.  I started my latest health journey climb back in 2017 – I have always been what I would consider “healthy” but knowing I could be better and wasn’t totally “walking the walk”, I implemented a healthy lifestyle program at the clinic.  Of course, I knew I had to try it out first before I could think of rolling it out to any clients.  Well, a big eye opener happened.  I lost 30 lbs and reset my whole GI system.  It was fantastic, and for a few years all was going fairly smooth. That is, until COVID hit, and my mom passed away in 2022.  I sort of fell off the wagon, or was at least riding over the edge a wee-bit too much.  In 2024, I re-focused my efforts with the help of two health coaches and found a new motivation in my overall health.  More specifically, it wasn’t just about my GI tract, cardiovascular and Musculo-skeletal systems: it was focused on my brain health.  The reason being is both my mom and grandma, suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease. With further research, it appears that a Great Aunt and an older female cousin on my mom’s side, may have also suffered but never formally diagnosed.

I was determined to do whatever I could to decrease my risk for developing this awful disease.  I wasn’t sure and am still not completely sure what I am doing will either slow the progression/onset or decrease it’s intensity, but there are a few things I have control over, which helps me sleep better at night knowing I am doing the right thing. The funny thing is, that the foundation and the solid habits I had built back in 2017 were a great platform to get back on track and expand my efforts to looking at my complete Metabolic Health.  I needed to find out where my deficiencies were, what new habits I needed to start, how to exercise my brain, and re-evaluate what I was putting in my system.

The past year-and-a-half, have not been 100% smooth and easy, but figuring things out is part of the adventure and process.  Remember, we are not going to be 100% successful all the time.  That expectation is not realistic and not sustainable. We learn from our mistakes and get better from them.  More importantly, we need a solid support system in place to help pick us up on those tough days and to celebrate/reinforce our wins.

Over the next few blog articles, I will go in more detail about my most recent journey, my ups and downs, what I am focusing on, and why resetting your Metabolic Health is so vital to helping you feel better, move freer and easier, sleep better, and be more confident that you are in charge of your health.
