Weekly Cup of Joe - Episode #60 – Dick Pond Athletics

Read the transcript for this video:

Good morning and welcome to your Weekly Cup of Joe. My name is Joe King. I'm the owner of Physical Therapy Advantage in North Aurora, and I'm here giving a bonus Cup of Joe. We started a few days ago-- last week I believe, I'm not sure exactly, but we started some cross-promotional marketing. So I’m giving some huge shout-outs to some referral partners of ours at the clinic that we've known for a number of years and have had some great relationships with.  I wanted to just give some shout-out and some recognition to some of those individuals and businesses that have helped us along, and that have been helping our clients all the way along as well too.

So this week we're talking about Dick Pond Athletics, and especially running Shoe store up in St. Charles. Our friends, Glen, and Caroline up there and their staff. They are tremendous if you can believe they are the oldest specialty running shoe store in America. I mean, that's just incredible. In the United States, they are the oldest in the Fox Valley region here. We have that at our disposal, as a resource for us, so truly incredible. So as a special running shoe store, of course, what they offer is they have tons of running groups, all different levels, different nights, different times, but they just offer a whole bunch of different groups. Come in, run with somebody, they have a leader that'll take them out that night to run or that day to run, and it's truly fantastic. And as they say, at Dick Pond, Glen has talked a number of times, is that "the power that is found in running together and running in groups is truly amazing". So if you're looking to do something like that or need some training partners, check it out.

Also, as far as running goes, they offer a tremendous program called "Walk to Run". So if you've never run before, or it's been a long time since you've run, you want to get back into running. They have this program that takes you from day one to getting into a running. So whether your goal is a 5k, 10k, whatever it may be, they guide you through the process and they teach you how to move again. So it's truly fantastic. The next two points are about their staff, they are engaging, they are empathetic, and they are so well trained just like you want them to be. So it's truly amazing. Also, nine and a half, or almost 10 out of 10 of their staff are runners. So not only are they engaging and empathetic, super knowledgeable, so they understand where you're coming from, they can give you the best information that they can. So take advantage of that as well. Finally Dick Pond, Glen, Carolyn, the crew there, they're community driven. They truly love giving back to the community that they live and serve in. So one of the things that they do is, they offer an educational lecture series here starting in the winter. I believe it actually starts this week. You can go online to find out, and all that information will be below, but they have a weekly series free to the community.

So anybody can come in, you just have to register ahead of time. But various topics-- great topics, some medical, some non-medical safety, health, different stuff. But they really like to give back to the community. They love to educate the community. So there are other points down below too. There's all their information, website, contact information, location, and everything like that. Please check out Dick Pond Athletics and St. Charles. Go see Glen, go see Carolyn and their fantastic staff. So thank you so much. We plan on doing a few more of these in the coming weeks. So we hope to see you next time for your Weekly Cup of Joe! Bye.
