Good morning and welcome to your Weekly Cup of Joe. My name is Joe King. I'm the owner of Physical Therapy Advantage in North Aurora and I'm here today. Christmas is upon us, as you can see in the background, and New Year's is fast approaching as well. So I just want to take some time today to talk to you about New Year's Resolutions, Goals, Challenges, whatever you want to term them. I'm not sure if you set them or not. I used to do a lot of them and never really kept them, never really successful with them. I kind of gave them up for a long time, but more recently I started them back up again because I found out some ways to be a little bit more successful. And I think there's some things you have to do for those New Year's Resolutions to really become successful. And so I wanted to talk to you about those today.
Number one is write your goals, challenges, whatever it is, your resolutions down on paper; get them out of your head and put them down on paper. Next is be as specific as you can and writing your goals out.what you want to specifically accomplish, timeframes, dates, whatever. Put those down as well. And this third one-- is probably the most important part of it ---is that you need to tell somebody you love them; somebody you trust, somebody that's not going to; if you want to keep it confidential, that's totally fine, whatever it is. But you need an accountability partner for this. You need somebody that holds you accountable and check in with you along the way. And also remember that we as humans are our own worst critics. So we're always going to beat ourselves up and we're going to fall off the wagon and not get back on and keep going after them. So just remember that you can set smaller goals within your big goal along the way. And when you do that, you can celebrate your wins. So it's progress, not perfection. So remember, you don't have to be perfect all the way along, you may faulter here and there, but it's progress, not perfection. And celebrate those smaller wins along the way. Okay.
If you have any questions about setting goals and new years resolutions, you want to talk a little more about this, I'm happy to do so.
